Hershey sophomore midfielder Karl Van Blargan has made a commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the United States Military Academy at West Point and begin the admissions process.
Karl Van Blargan log:
High School: Hershey High School
Graduation Year: 2016
College Choice: Army
Club Affiliation: HEADstrong
Major lacrosse honors: Jake Reeds Nike Blue Chip, Black Card Showcase, King of the Hill All-Star game
Academic Honors: Honor Roll
What will you major in/study? Defense and Strategic Studies
Why did you choose West Point? “As soon as I got on campus and met with the coaches and players, I knew this was something I wanted to pursue. The players treated me like part of the team and the coaches treated me like I was already a player. I did an overnight and stayed with Ryan Morgan, a Manheim Township graduate, and got to live the day in the life as a Cadet. Leaving West Point, I knew it was the place for me.”
What is your team’s outlook for next season? “This year, our High School team has a lot of experience in all areas. We will have a very strong defense and an offense that will be able to put up points. I think we will have a good shot at winning the Mid Penn division, and making a run into States.”
Additional Comments: “I would like to thank Coach Andy Briggs, who was the first coach to teach me the fundamentals of the game. Also, I would like to thank Coach Brian Neary and the entire Headstrong Foundation. In addition, I would like to thank my parents for the support they gave me in my decision.”
Other schools considered: University of Maryland, Ohio State University
