Holy Cross names senior Caracausa (Mount St. Joseph) as tri-captain

The Holy Cross women’s lacrosse program has named senior Corinne Caracausa (Mount St. Joseph, North Wales, Pa.), senior Sara Hennessey and junior Laura Ryan as team captains for the 2014 season.

Caracausa, a midfielder, has played in 45 games as a Crusader. During these games, she has tallied 58 career ground balls and 26 caused turnovers. She has tallied 11 career points (nine goals and two assists). Last season, she posted 38 ground balls, which ranked her fourth in the Patriot League. Along with this, she recorded 16 draw controls as well as 16 caused turnovers. She also scored a game-winner last season against Central Connecticut on April 17. Caracausa earned second team All-Patriot League honors as well as Patriot League Academic Honor Roll accolades. She is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Hennessey has played in 51 career games and enters the season with a 32-game goal scoring streak. She has accumulated 103 total career points, including 94 goals and nine assists. Nine of those goals have been game-winners. Last season she was ranked third on the team with 35 goals. She was also ranked 10th overall in the Patriot league for goals per game (2.19). Additionally, she ranked second for the Crusaders with 34 draw controls. Hennessey was named Crusader of the Week last April, and also earned second team All-Patriot League honors. She is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the Holy Cross Leadership Academy. Hennessey has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in every season.

Ryan, a midfielder, has played 37 games in her career as a Crusader. She has netted 77 goals and assisted in 16, totaling 93 career points. She enters the season ranked fourth all-time at the school with 117 draw controls. Last season she ranked fourth in the Patriot League for draw controls per game (2.74). For her career, she has scored four game-winning goals for the Crusaders. She is a member of the Holy Cross Leadership Academy and was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll last season. She has earned second team All-Patriot League honors for both of her years as a Crusader.

Last season, the Crusaders went 9-10 overall and 3-3 in the Patriot League. Holy Cross made it to its sixth Patriot League championship game in program history as it fell to Navy. The team returns 17 players and welcomes 10 freshmen.
