Virginia freshman forward Caleigh Foust (Harriton) has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week after a pair of three-goal performances in two Cavalier wins, including Sunday’s 5-3 victory at No. 8 Old Dominion.
Foust – the Phillylacrosse.com Co-Player of the Year after leading her Rams to their first state lacrosse championship in June – scored her first career hat trick in last Friday’s 6-1 win at Yale, connecting on three of her four shots on goal.
Foust came up big again in Sunday’s match at ODU, making good on all three of her shots on goal in leading the Cavaliers past the Monarchs. Foust shot .600 overall in the two games (6-of-10), including a 6-of-7 showing in on-goal attempts.
Foust is currently tied for second in the NCAA national rankings for goals per game, averaging 1.75 per contest.
Foust accepted a field hockey scholarship and currently is not slated to play lacrosse. She had the game-winning goal in overtime in Harriton’s PIAA championship win over Radnor to close her lacrosse career at HersheyPark Stadium.
