Starting this December, NXTsports will transform United Sports’ indoor winter lacrosse competition into a box lacrosse league.
League games will be played with box goals, and NXT will provide high-quality box goalie equipment for participating teams to borrow for game play. The rules governing play will consist of modified box rules, designed to foster the skill-development that comes from playing in tight quarters, but with limited contact to create a completely safe environment.
The league will debut the weekend of December 7-8 at the United Sports with a series of clinics for participating coaches, players, goalies and referees. The clinics will review game rules, coaching practices, and provide basic skill sessions for players and goalies. League games will be played Sundays, starting on Sunday, December 8, and the league will wrap with playoffs and championships on Sunday, February 16.
The league will feature youth and high school divisions. Additional details regarding scheduling, age brackets, and all other information will be released shortly. Based on interest already received, the box winter league is expected to be at full capacity.
