McGurkin, who becomes the first former Explorer to rejoin as an assistant coach, was a team captain in 2012 who finished her four-year career ranked in the top 10 in La Salle history in a number of categories. She ranks third all-time in career assists with 43 and third in career draw controls with 118. Her 15 assists and 45 draw controls in 2009 are in the top 10 single-season lists. She was also an Atlantic 10 All-Rookie selection in 2009 and All-Philly selection in 2012.
McGurkin also has coaching experience as the director of Black Bear Lacrosse Camps and as a clinician at Sweet Lax and Franklin & Marshall lacrosse clinics.
“Coming back to La Salle as a member of [Head Coach Candace Taglianetti Bossell’s] staff is a wonderful opportunity and I am very excited,” McGurkin said. “I look forward to contributing to the continued growth of the women’s lacrosse program.”
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Nora back,” Taglianetti Bossell said. “She has always been the heart and soul of our team as a player and we know she will bring that passion with her as a coach.”
