From Press Release
The Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) will be well represented at the Major League Lacrosse Championship Weekend on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25 when six of the team’s top players return to Philadelphia to compete for the league title at PPL Park.
Wings Captain Brodie Merrill, leading scorer Kevin Crowley (Shipley assistant coach) and Jordan Hall will represent the Hamilton Nationals when they take on the second seeded Chesapeake Bayhawks, led by Drew Westervelt, a six-year Wings veteran and faceoff specialist Jeff Reynolds in the first round games. Crowley has had a strong summer for the Nationals, earning a share of the league’s scoring title. Westervelt has also had his most productive scoring season of his career, placing him in the league’s top five scorers.
In Saturday’s second semi-final game, Brendan Mundorf, the 2012 league MVP and member of the top seeded Denver Outlaws, matchup against the fourth seeded Charlotte Hounds. Mundorf led the Outlaws to a 14-0 record this season, becoming the MLL’s first team to ever record an undefeated season and look to be the favorites to take home the title.
The Championship Weekend will begin with the two semifinal games on Saturday, August 24 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., followed by the final on Sunday, August 25 at 3 p.m. Tickets for the weekend games are available online at www.ComcastTix.com and www.philadelphiaunion.com/ppl-park or by calling 1800-298-4200.
