From Press Release

Dan Diehl, President of Lower Bucks Lacrosse, announced that the Lower Bucks Lacrosse Scholarship Committee has awarded the 2013 Jerry Middlemiss and Stephanie Magnone Scholarship Awards to Kevin Nowak, Sarah Gallagher, and Jackie Sweeney, all high school seniors and former LBL players.

Nowak played varsity lacrosse for three years for Neshaminy High School, and has a 3.68 GPA. “Kevin is very involved in Special Olympics, Ski Patrol and lacrosse, and honors the game with his respectful approach to coaches, teammates and opponents,” said the LBL Scholarship Committee.

Gallagher and Sweeney are co-winners this year. Gallagher is the captain of 2013 state championship semi-finalist Notre Dame (N.J.) Varsity Lacrosse Team, with an exceptional record of leadership and community service. “Sarah is a well-rounded, dedicated student athlete who puts others first, exemplifying the traits exemplified by the scholarship’s namesake, Stephanie Magnone,” said the Committee.

Sweeney is the captain of the 2013 SOL National champion Pennsbury Varsity Lacrosse Team, with a 4.61 GPA, and an equally exceptional record of community service, including volunteering for LBL by sharing her talents with the next generation of lacrosse stars. “Jackie is a high achiever not only in the classroom and on the athletic field, but also in the community. She underscores the values that are intrinsic to our program.” according to the Committee.

Honorable mentions were awarded to LBL alumni Tyler Bielecki and Justin Litus (both of Holy Ghost Prep), Kelsy Gumbert (Pennsbury) and Morgan Smith (Villa Joseph Marie).

The scholarships will be awarded on June 14 at Lower Bucks Lacrosse’s Lax-a-Palooza, a legendary, spectacular end-of-season celebration held at Middletown Community Park in Langhorne.

The Jerry Middlemiss and Stephanie Magnone Scholarship Awards are named in honor of the founders of the Lower Bucks Boys and Girls Lacrosse programs, respectively, coaches who set high standards of excellence both on the field, and in life.

“At Lower Bucks Lacrosse, our goal is to develop young people who are winners both in lacrosse, and in life; we were thrilled to realize that every one of our candidates for these scholarships met both of these criteria. This year’s winners represent the very best of young people today; we hope in some small way their years with Lower Bucks Lacrosse contributed to their success. We wish them the best of luck in college and beyond.”
