Defenseman Vince Garman, a senior contributor on Haverford School’s undefeated 2011 team, has transferred from High Point to Delaware.

Garman played in 12 games in 2013 for High Point, a first-year program under former Wings and Barrage standout Jon Torpey. Garman will be a sophomore eligible player because he red-shirted the previous year.

Garman was a reserve on the Fords’ 2011 team that finished 23-0 and finished first in every national rankings.

“I just loved my visit at Delaware,” Garman said. “Coach (Bob) Shillinglaw and Coach (Greg) Carroll made me and my father feel like family on our visit.

“I grew up going to U of D football games with my family and to have the chance to play and represent the university is just a dream come true. I really like the idea of being closer to home and attending a larger university. Also the draw of playing for an established program and getting a fresh start were very appealing.”

Garman said he enjoyed his experience at High Point.

“I had a fantastic experience playing at High Point under Coach (Jon) Torpey,” Garman said. “I met some great people and made some best friends down there. I really learned a lot about lacrosse and how to handle yourself like a professional.”
