World Cup scoreboard: Playoffs begin with USA as top seed

The United States gained the top seed in the FIL World Cup heading into the medal round after its 13-2 win over host Canada on Tuesday. The USA, Canada, Australia and England all earned first-round byes and an off-day on Wednesday.

Japan, which is the only team besides the US to finish pool play unbeaten, topped Israel on Tuesday, 12-11, in overtime. They Japenese finished atop Pool C at 5-0 and will face Scotland (4-1) in the knockout round.
