Twist used a smothering defensive effort to knock off Madlax (VA/MD), 4-3, in its second game. That that turned out to be the decisive win for Twist, which tied with Madlax for first in Pool C at 5-1 and then advanced to semifinal playoffs due to the head-to-head win.

Twist’s only loss in pool play came against the Long Island Express, which defeated Twist, 6-5, after a frantic final three minutes during which Twist put up four shots, two of which hit the pipe and two that were saved.

Twist defeated the Building Blocks (N.J.) and Resolute (Ohio) Sunday morning to clinch the pool title and advance to the semifinals, where Twist knocked off the CT Chargers, 4-1, to reach the final. Twist’s run ended with a 7-0 loss to Leading Edge Elite (N.J.).
