TOWSON, Md. – The Philly girls’ Under Armour Underclassmen Games team closed its tournament in style today with a 10-7 victory over the West at Towson University.
Casey Swezey (Hatboro-Horsham) collected three goals, two GBs and one CT for Team Philly while Natalie Bulgier (Souderton) and Katie O’Donnell (Henderson) each had two goals and one DC.
Meanwhile, Bridget Chakey (Agnes Irwin) had a goal and an assist and Emily McBride (Manheim Township) and Kelly Daggett (Lancaster Catholic) each had a goal. Liz Jacobs (Princeton High) added two assists.
Haley Warden (Garnet Valley) collected three GBs, three DCs, one CT and one assist while Elena Romesburg (Central Bucks West) had three GBs, three DCs and one CT. Alex Silvera (Episcopal Academy), Hannah Keating (Agnes Irwin) and Avery Shoemaker (Great Valley) each had one DC and one GB. Zoe Gomez (Wissahickon), Maddy Klee (Wilson) and Issy Schmitt (Atchbishop Carroll) were also key contributors on attack.
Crease defender Lily Kovach (Strath Haven) scooped up two GBs and combined with Olivia Nostrant (Merion Mercy) and Ashley Durham (North Penn) to lead the defense. Nostrant had two steals.
Hilary Lemonick (Harriton), Maddie Terefenko (Wilson), Maria Guerra (Hatboro-Horsham) and Sarah Nicolson (Conestoga) each had one steal and played stellar line defense. Melina Avery (Harriton) made 10 stops and Ali Kothari (Shipley) had four saves and one interception.
The Philly coaches were Agnes Irwin’s Jenny “Coach Duck” Duckenfield, Boyertown’s Pam Wernersbach and Archbishop Carroll’s Lorraine Beers.
