Under Armour roundup: Philly boys improve to 3-0, girls drop to 1-2

TOWSON, Md. – Peter Blynn (Haverford School) scored late in the game to give undefeated Team Philly a 10-9 win over Upstate New York today in Day 2 of the Under Armour Underclassmen Games at Towson University.Under Armour

Philly is 3-0 and remains tied with Washington D.C. atop the Red Division. The two teams meet Sunday at 8 a.m. for the top seed in the Division; both have qualified for the semifinals.

Blynn, Ryan Hilburn (Malvern Prep) and Tripp Traynor each scored twice for Philly while Drew Supinski (Haverford School), Tanner Peck (Avon Grove), Drew Schantz (Malvern Prep) and Drew Murray (Penn Charter) also tallied once each.

Goalies Will Schreiner (Avon Grove) and Colin MacDougall (La Salle) each had six saves.

Earlier in the day, Hilburn scored the game-winner as Team Philadelphia topped the South, 8-7.

Hilburn had two goals and an assist and Greg Merrill (Great Valley) had two goals and two assists for Philly while Charles Kelly (Malvern Prep) stood out at the X. Also scoring for Team Philly were Supinski, Connor Keating (Haverford School, Jake Scott (Conestoga) and Matt Heim (Central Bucks East).

Meanwhile, the Philly girls fell to 1-2 with a 15-5 loss to Long Island.

Elena Romesburg (Central Bucks West, 2014 MF, James Madison) led Philly with two goals three GBs and one takeaway while Katie O’Donnell (Henderson, 2014 MF, Penn State), Issy Schmitt (Archbishop Carroll, 2015 MF, Delaware) and Hannah Keating (Agnes Irwin, 2016 A) each scored once. Schmitt and O’Donnell each added two GBs.

Avery Shoemaker (Penn Charter, 2015 A, Virginia) had two assists, Bridget Chakey (Agnes Irwin, 2014 MF, Syracuse) and Maddie Klee (Wilson, 2015 A, Michigan) had one assist and Ali Kothari (Shipley, 2015) made four saves while Hillary Lemonick (Harriton, 2014 DEF, Cornell) contributed strong defense and two GBs.
