TOWSON, Md. – Defending champion Philadelphia recovered from a strong New Jersey comeback and tallied the final three goals of the game to claim a 10-8 victory today in as the Under Armour Underclassmen Games commended at Towson University.

Team Philly led, 7-2, at halftime, but New Jersey went on 6-0 run to seize an 8-7 lead in the final quarter. Then Drew Supinski (Haverford School, 2015 MF, Johns Hopkins commit) tied it, and Tripp Traynor (Malvern Prep, 2014 MF, Penn State) tallied his second goal to put Team Philly ahead, 9-8. Supinski then clinched it with his second goal.

“We had a strong first half, then they had their run and we had to settle down,” said Philly midfielder Steve Hudak (La Salle, 2014), who had two assists. “It was a good win for the first day; since we’re the reigning champions we want to start off right way.”

“We played well, we just need to finish out four quarters,” added Philly goalie Colin MacDougall (La Salle, 2014). “It’s great to come and represent Philly.”

MacDougall posted six saves in the first half and Will Schreiner (Avon Grove, 2014, Penn State) also had six saves.

Philly co-coach Pat McDonough (Penn Charter) said it’s important to get that first victory.

“Obviously, it feels good to get a win,” he said. “Early on, you kind of need to get some playing time so you develop some chemistry.

“It’s nice to win when you’re trying to figure it out. We had our moments. We played well at times, but there are things we have to work on the next game.

“A couple guys stepped up and found the back of the net and that’s what you need.”
