The Brandywine Majors 2016 Team won its age group championship in the Brine Nations Capital Cup last weekend in Boyds, Md.
The Select Team finished undefeated in top pool play against teams from Georgia, Connecticut, Maryland and New Jersey and improved its season record to 12-2.
“This summer finds the 2016 Team challenging themselves like they’ve never done before,” said Head Coach ChristyAnn Morello. “Their talent and work ethic is evident every time they step foot on the playing field, whether it be at practice or at a tournament. Hopefully it will help to continue to attract college coaches as they begin their journey in the recruiting circuit.”
The team is comprised of players from both public and private schools in SE Pennsylvania and Delaware.
“Many of them already have impressive resumes filled with honors and awards but when they take the field, none of that is important to them – they play to showcase each other – not just themselves – something unique in tournament lacrosse,” said Morello.
“I’m proud of how this group of young players approach this great game and I look forward to helping them to continue to develop into players that we can watch play at the next level!”
Team members include (alphabetical): Madison Chermol, Delaney Chrisco, Kelly Denton, Lauren Dunn, Sydney Gagnon, Desiree George, Carly Glassford, Maura Gibbs, Emily Kalish, Laynie Kennedy, Michelle Koscinski, Annika Kruse, Emily Mathewson, Kara Nakrasius, Sophie Peipher, Katie Rudman and Rachel Warden. Morello’s assistant is Susan Kennedy.
