MECHANISCBURG – One offensive eruption could have been expected. The other? Not so much.

Sophomore Reilly Masterson exploded for a career-high seven goals on seven shots to go with two assists and Shannon Quinn paired six goals with one assist as Radnor throttled Peters Township, 19-9 in the PIAA semifinal today at Cumberland Valley High School.

The No. 3 seed out of District 1, Radnor (20-4) will take on District One champion Harriton in Saturday’s state final at noon at Hersheypark Stadium. The Rams toppled Manheim Township, 15-8, in the other semifinal to set up the fourth all-Central final in five years.

Harriton took home a 10-9 win over the Red Raiders in the teams’ regular-season meeting and followed it up with a 15-6 rout in the District One semifinals.

“It’s really great, (especially) considering it’s my first year on varsity and it’s nice to contribute to the team,” Masterson said. “It’s amazing (to make it to Hershey). It’s so fun and we’ve worked so hard like in fall ball and all of our offseason work to get here. It’s just amazing.”

The Red Raiders looked well on their way to a rout as they opened up a 9-0 lead, but the District 7 champion Indians (19-3) weren’t about to go down lightly. They strung together a 9-3 run that left them down 12-9, a streak that featured a natural hat trick from Allison Hurley, but then Masterson and Quinn tallied the game’s final seven goals to slam the door shut.

“I got so many texts and emails from alumni parents today saying, ‘we’re going to be in Hershey. You’ve gotta get there. You’ve gotta get there. It made me nervous. It put extra pressure on me, especially since today was such an unknown. (The Indians) had some nice players.”

They sure did, but ultimately, Radnor’s depth did them in. That depth has helped carry the Red Raiders all season long and there was no better example of that than Masterson’s breakout game. But even with that, there were matching two-goal, one-assist efforts from Taylor Quinn and Sara Curley in a supporting role.
