Malvern Prep is offering the following events:
Malvern Prep Youth Lacrosse Camp
Staff: Bob DiIonno, Matt Mackrides, Todd MacFarlane, Nick Pison, Steve Holmes
Ages: Boys ages 7-14
Description: The Malvern Prep lacrosse camp is player-focused and uses a comprehensive teaching progression to serve the needs of beginning, intermediate and older, less experienced players. Campers progress through daily, fundamental station work, individual positional work, competitive position drills, systematic unsettled play concepts and, finally, team play, where new skills and concepts are applied. There will also be daily specialized coaching in goalie play and face-offs.

• No training on Fridays or on the following dates: July 4, 22, 23 and 24th.
• Athletes are not required to come every day.
• Please bring: running shoes, towel, cleats, shorts and t-shirt with sleeves.
Time: 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m.
Grades: Co-Ed, ages 14 years and up

Description: This program is a high intensity, core strength and conditioning program that delivers guaranteed results. This high intensity style of training will challenge participants in a variety of ways, Improving endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility and balance. Every training day is different to shock the muscles.
Training sessions may consist of: Drop Sets, Super sets, Circuit Training, Jump rope, Hill workouts, Sprint workouts,
Medicine Ball workouts, Plyometrics
Bob DiIonno – Malvern Prep Head JV Lacrosse Coach
A graduate of East Stroudsburg University, he was team captain, MVP of his lacrosse team, and a member of many club field and box lacrosse teams. Coach DiIonno has more than 20 years of playing and coaching experience. He coached the Neumann College Men’s and Women’s teams. During his tenure as the inaugural Head Women’s coach, he compiled a 55-13 record, amassed four consecutive conference playoffs, produced five regional All-Americans, and was voted Coach of the Year.
In addition to his four years at the collegiate level, he was the Head Girls Lacrosse Coach at Chichester High School for eight seasons, coached one High School All American, and was an assistant boy’s lacrosse coach at Chatham High School. Coach DiIonno served as an assistant coach at Avon Grove High School from 2007-2010, helping the Red Devils to two consecutive playoff appearances. During that time, he also served as the Director of the Avon Grove Wildcats youth lacrosse organization.
Coach DiIonno is also the Director and founder of Pioneer Lacrosse Co.
Matt Mackrides- Malvern Prep Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach
Matt attended Malvern Prep, where he was a three sport athlete before focusing on lacrosse. He was named most valuable player twice, in his sophomore and senior seasons, for his work on the Friars team. Coach Mackrides was a part of the 2006 Pennsylvania State Championship team. In his senior season, he was elected as team captain, and was also named Eastern Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association Player of the year. His high school achievements include being named three-time All State and two-time All American, and being selected to represent the country as one of 23 participants on the 2008 Under-19, USA Lacrosse team.
Coach Mackrides attended Pennsylvania State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Arts and Sciences, with a minor in Business. On the field, he was a four-year starter; recording 101 goals and 43 assists, totaling 144 points, and adding 134 ground balls in 54 games. He was also named ECAC Preseason Rookie of the Year, and was a three-time First Team All-CAA. Coach Mackrides was also elected as team captain in both his junior and senior seasons. For his efforts during his senior season, he was named a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) 2012 Scholar All-American; a USILA 2012 All-American Honorable Mention; and a Lowe’s 2012 Senior CLASS award Second-Team All-American.

Todd MacFarlane- Malvern Prep Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach
In addition to Coach MacFarlane’s varsity coaching duties he also serves as Assistant Athletic Director and Coordinator of External Programs at Malvern Preparatory School. Coach Mac has coached and played at all levels. Collegiately he played for Pfeiffer University, where he earned All-Conference, Team MVP, Team Captain and All-Conference Academic Team honors. Professionally he played for the National Lacrosse League’s Anaheim Storm.
Coach Mac’s coaching career started at La Costa Canyon (LCC) High School in San Diego after serving with the United States Marines. LCC won the 2001 conference title and finished #2 in the state. In 2001 Coach Mac earned US Lacrosse Association and San Diego County “Man of the Year” Awards. From 1999-2001 he also was deemed US Lacrosse Association and San Diego County “Coach of the Year.”
From 2004-2009 Coach Mac started and directed Top Notch Training Lacrosse (TNT). TNT joined forces with the Paul Ecke YMCA to offer box leagues, camps, clinics and training to the San Diego community.
From 2004-2005 Coach Mac was at the helm of the University of San Diego (USD) Men’s lacrosse team, where the team won back-to-back Western Collegiate Lacrosse League, Division B Conference Championships and in 2005 won the Men’s Division Intercollegiate Associates, National Championship. In addition to team awards, Coach Mac was named 2005 Men’s Division Intercollegiate Associates and Western Collegiate Lacrosse League, Division B “Coach of the Year.”
In addition to his duties at USD, Coach Mac took USA California to Adelaide, Australia and competed in the Western Pacific Lacrosse Games. He also volunteered his time from 2004- 2005 with the Encinitas Mustang Middle School team and helped the team win back-to-back San Diego County Championships.
From 2007-2009 Coach Mac was the Director of Lacrosse for the City of La Jolla and oversaw all Middle and High School Boy’s programs/events.
Upon arriving in the Philadelphia area, Coach Mac jumped right into the lacrosse scene and worked with Fever, Militia, Old School, Haverford School and Avon Grove programs.
Nick Pison- Malvern Prep Assistant JVA Lacrosse Coach
Coach Pison is originally from Southern New Jersey and is a graduate of St. Augustine Prep, where he was a 4 year letter winner at midfield. He was named US Lacrosse All-American and also a two-time All-Conference selection, leading the Hermits to a conference championship his senior season. Coach Pison played his club lacrosse for All-State Lacrosse.
Coach Pison attended Lehigh University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English as well as a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education. After a sidelining injury freshman year, he played 4 seasons for the Lehigh University Club Lacrosse Team, serving as an executive board member (President/Vice President/Captain) and leading the team in scoring for all 4 seasons. Coach Pison was awarded the Lehigh University Leadership Award from Campus Athletics.
He began his high school coaching career as Head JV Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach at Emmaus High School under former Malvern Prep coach Jeff Hewlings, where he stayed for 3 years. In 2011, Coach took over as Head Varsity Coach at Lansdale Catholic High School before taking his place at Malvern. Coach Pison is also involved with many camps and club teams, including SouthShore Lacrosse (NJ), Militia Lacrosse Club, Lehigh University Lacrosse Camps and St. Augustine Prep Lacrosse Camps, during the summer season.
Steve Holmes- Malvern Prep Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach
Coach Holmes is a Germantown Academy and University of Virginia graduate, and a Major League Lacrosse and National Lacrosse League veteran. While at GA he was a two-year captain in both Lacrosse and Football earning a variety of accolades. As a member of the University of Virginia lacrosse team Holmes started in every game of his career. At UVA Holmes was a standout defenseman and team captain, competing in two final fours and earning All-American honors in 2005. In 2006 Holmes started his professional playing career that continues today. A defensive standout in both Major league lacrosse for the Denver Outlaws, and the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League. Since Holmes left UVA he has also been a career coach. His coaching career started in 2006 that included stints as Head Coach of two high schools, a defensive coordinator at Dominican University in California, and is highlighted by helping UVA capture a title in 2011 as the volunteer assistant coach assisting with the defense.
