Marie McCool had five goals and an assist as Moorestown defeated Mendham, 18-10, today to win the New Jersey Group 3 girls’ lacrosse championship at Kean University
The Quakers, ranked No. 1 by Phillylacrosse.com, improved to 23-0 and won their 49th straight game. They advance to the Tournament of Champions semifinals Wednesday vs. Group 1 champion Oak Knoll at Monmouth University.
Gabby Frank added three goals and an assist and Frankie Angeleri scored three goals for Moorestown. Tristan McGinley and Sydney Dalmass each had two goals and Margaret Nissen had a goal and an assist.
Becky Gohsler led Mendham (15-6) with four goals.
NJ Group 4 Championship
Shawnee 12, Ridgewood 9
Caroline Shinske had four goals and an assist, including three goals late in the second ahlf as Shawnee (18-2) won its first Group 4 title in 15 years.
The Renegades advance to the Tournament of Champions semifinals Wednesday vs. Group 2 champion Summit (a 16-11 winner over over Allentown) at Monmouth.
Shawnee (18-2) moves on to the Tournament of Champions, with the semifinals taking place on Wednesday afternoon at Monmouth University.
Lauren Beausoleil led Ridgewood (18-5) with three goals, while Maggie Carver had two goals. Ridgewood had used a 6-2 run to pull within 9-8 in the second half, but Shinske took over.
Erin Smith had two goals and two assists for Shawnee while Carly Demato and Caroline Farley each had two goals and an assist.
