The Maplezone MuckDawgs Lacrosse Club in the Boothwyn/Garnet Valley area is finalizing roster spots for its 2013 summer club lacrosse teams. The MapleZone MuckDawgs Lacrosse Club is offering teams for U9, U11, U13, U15, and high school aged players. The U9 and U11 teams will have 20 summer practice sessions and play in two tournaments and the U13, U15, and HS teams will also have 20 practice days and will play in four tournaments.
Practice will be held every Monday and Thursday evening starting at the end of May through end of July at our indoor field house located at 1451 Conchester Hwy (US Rt. 322). Each player will receive quality instruction with a fundamental approach to the game focusing on high repetitions of basic skills, while advanced players will receive position specific training along with an emphasis on team concepts and field awareness to increase their lacrosse IQ. In addition to the lacrosse training the MuckDawgs have also built in its practice schedule 10 speed and agility sessions with its in-house sports performance trainer, Jon Berdanier. All players will also receive game shorts, reversible pinnie and shooting shirt along with access to the fitness center. Brine National Lacrosse Classic’s Pride of Pennsylvania Lacrosse Showcase Tryouts for boys currently in grades 9-11. Eastern PA tryouts will be held on Sunday, May 19, from 1-4 p.m. at The Hill School. The Pride of Pennsylvania Showcase will be played on June 9, 2013 at The Hill School in Pottstown. The Showcase will feature high school boys that qualified for selection by attending the Brine National Lacrosse Classic Pennsylvania regional team tryouts. Selected players will represent their region in a showcase event to determine the Top 25 players that will represent the State of Pennsylvania and advance to the 2013 Brine National Lacrosse Classic in Maryland, July 1-3, 2013 where regional teams compete for a National Championship in front of NCAA lacrosse coaches from every division. Israel Lacrosse Invitational Tournament Team Pennsylvania tryouts, May 19, from 5-7 PM at Harriton High for the tourney to be held August 14-18 at the Oldfields School in Sparks Glencoe, MD. The tournament will inspire young athletes to connect with their Jewish identity and the State of Israel through a shared passion for the sport of Lacrosse and will bring together teams from Colorado, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. The Tournament is open to Jewish high school students (including graduating seniors) who will have the opportunity to represent their State in a competitive four-day tournament. The Philly team is being coached by former Strath Haven coach and current Great Valley assistant David Waldman. The total expense for the Israel Lacrosse Invitational Tournament is $975/participant, which includes: Minimum of 11 games; Instruction from Israel National Team Coaches and MLL players; Four Nights housing (dormitory-style at Oldfields School); All meals for the duration of the event; Team Uniforms; Evening activities; $300 tax –deductible contribution to the Israel lacrosse Association; Israel Lacrosse National Team v. Philly U11 World Lacrosse Games 2014 tryouts registration has begun. There will be between two and four tryouts held in late May and early June for the team. The team will be announced in mid-June and then begin participating in June of 2014. The team will begin practices on June 2, 2014 and participate in three local tournaments that month to prepare for the World Games (July 10-12 for U11 and July 10-19 for the entire tourney). To be eligible, players must be born on or after 9/1/2002. The team will have 24 players and four coaches. The cost to be on the team is TBA. Elite Prospect Clinic, High School Class of 2014, 2015, 2016, June 9, at St. Joseph’s University, 10:00am-3:00pm. Price: $115. Description: Our prospect clinics are designed for elite caliber high school juniors (class of 2014) and sophomores (class of 2015) who are interested in playing at the college level. These single day, two-session, clinics provide the platform for each athlete to showcase their ability against top level competition, to gain insight into the life of a college lacrosse player, to learn about the recruiting process, while being instructed directly by the SJU coaching staff and players. The first session is geared toward small group skill development and positional instruction. Between sessions lunch will be provided and the SJU coaching staff will present a recruiting seminar and program overview. The second session progresses into full field games. The afternoon session will be professionally video-taped and available for purchase.

August 4: “Last Chance Showcase” at St. Joseph’s University, Grades 9 through 11 (Class of 2014-16), 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Price: $115. Description: The Last Chance Showcase is an opportunity to for high school players to get one final look before the end of the summer recruiting period. With the NCAA recruiting quiet period beginning the day after camp, this is literally your “Last Chance” to be seen before summer recruiting screeches to a halt. This event is designed for elite players who have a specific interest in SJU, or simply those who simply want to get in front of college coaches one more time before the end of the season. The camp will be staffed entirely with DI, DII and DIII coaches who are looking for one more glimpse of high school talent before the start of the school year.
Inaugural Philly Lax Cup, hosted by the Cavalier Lacrosse School, on Father’s Day Weekend at Cabrini College. Participating in the event will be 12 of the premier club teams and 12 of the premier high school teams from the Philadelphia area. The tournament will guarantee each team three games over the weekend, with a total of five possible. The games will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday evening, June 14. Each club team will be playing one game on this day. On Saturday, the club teams will play two games each. At the conclusion of these games, the top four teams will play in the semi-finals followed by the championship on the stadium field. This game will determine who will be crowned as the “Philly Lax Cup” Champion. Starting Saturday night, the high school tournament will begin. Again each team will play three games over the weekend, with a total of five possible. The games will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday evening. Each team will play one game Saturday night. On Sunday, the teams will play a guaranteed two games. At the conclusion of these games, the top four teams will play in the semi-finals followed by the championship on the stadium field. Coaching along with Mouradian and Holmes are current Division 1 players Joey Sankey and Jordan Wolf. Sankey is a current UNC attackman and three-time high school All-American. Jordan Wolf is a current Duke All-American attackman and two-time high school All-American.

John Nostrant’s Summer Lacrosse Camp, July 21st – 24th, 9 a.m.-3 p.m; hosted by YSC. The camp focuses on developing the fundamentals for players of all ages along side of YSC’s state-of-the art ADT (Athletic Development Training in Wayne) and mental skills training (sport psychology) with YSC’s world-class staff. The camp is structured for kindergarten through rising eighth graders, and features instruction from the best high school and college players in the area. The camp stresses both individual and team concepts while creating a fun and competitive atmosphere. The ADT training will help to develop each athlete’s agility, balance, and coordination – the foundational athletic skills. The Sports Psychology sessions will teach athletes how best to develop their mental skills, and will focus on control and maximizing performance. In addition to his previous three camps that will be held at Eastern University and the Haverford School, three former Haverford School standouts will run his fourth camp at YSC: Kyle Wharton, Will Scudder and Mike Rufo. The YSC Facility is a 90,000 sq. ft. indoor and outdoor athletic facility offering multiple state of the art synthetic Sprinturf fields, an ADT high performance fitness center and other first-class amenities to create the ultimate lacrosse training complex located on County Line Road in Wayne. These camps will focus on building skill development, leadership, character and confidence in athletes ranging from youth to high school level. Proceeds from the camps will allow the HEADstrong Foundation™ to strengthen its commitment to serving those affected by blood cancers and those working towards eliminating it. Players will receive a HEADstrong Lax Tank and Laces. Players will also have the chance to win amazing prizes from Warrior and Brine. Infusing the core values of the HEADstrong Foundation, camp organizers Michael Colleluori and Brian Neary have created an amazing camp experience for lacrosse players looking to elevate their level of play. American Indoor Lacrosse Association summer camp experience for boys’ lacrosse players in the U11, U13 and U15 classes. AILA is presenting summer camps with both INDOOR and OUTDOOR training! In|Crosse is AILA’s proprietary platform that leverages the integration and convergence of indoor lacrosse with the field game. Developed by Johnny Mouradian, AILA’s President and Philadelphia Wing’s GM/Head Coach, In|Crosse begins with learning the bio mechanics, principles and tactics of indoor lacrosse. In|Crosse blends the two versions of the game into a curriculum that, when dedicated to, will build a supremely skilled lacrosse player with a high lacrosse IQ. Through this combined field play, a player’s agility, field visibility, spacing, tactics, endurance and overall skills are heightened and strengthened which provides an accelerated player development platform. Teaming up with Mouradian is Camp Director Steven Holmes, a University of Virginia graduate who plays both indoor and outdoor professionally for the Philadelphia Wings and the Denver Outlaws, respectively.

In addition to its fundamentals program, which is designed to introduce the game to beginning and intermediate players, Black Bear camps provide advanced technique and training for experienced players. The Philly Style Lacrosse Camp is a unique four-day camp specifically designed towards goalie play and teaching the Dougherty and Adams “Philly Style” of playing between the pipes. Over the four-day camp, youth and high school players will learn cutting edge goal tending techniques to improve their level of play through goalie specific drills and game scenarios in addition to seeing hundreds of shots each day.
Goalies will learn how to stop the ball from some of the best goalies in the world.. Keenan, Amato and Kaut will lead drill as goalies see live shots, watch them-selves on video, chalk-talk, drills and demonstrations. Attackmen and Middies will learn how to score & refine their shot from current NCAA Coaches and Players. The National Showcase a one-day boy’s lacrosse teaching and recruiting event at Germantown Academy November 10, 2013. The National Showcase will feature the top high school freshman and sophomore boy’s lacrosse players (2016 & 2017) in the country.
