Joe Malone scored three goals, Tanner Peck had two goals and four assists and Avon Grove’s defense stymied Bishop Shanahan all day as the Devils posted a key 10-2 Ches-Mont League win today.

The win forced a logjam atop the Ches-Mont as Downingtown East (7-2) Avon Grove (6-2), Great Valley (6-2), Bishop Shanahan (5-2) and Kennett (5-2) all have two losses.

MattKing added two goals, Will Schreiner made 10 saves and Anthony Cardile won 12 of 14 face-offs. The Avon Grove defense of Danny Norris, Brendan McNicholas, Logan Atkinson and long pole Nick Cardile was a key in the victory.

“There are a lot of teams with two losses,” said Avon Grove coach Eric Jackson, whose team took a 7-0 halftime lead. “Something clicked for us tonight.

“We’ve been saying we want to play our best ball in May and it was good to see them play hard tonight.”

John Mehok and Dylan Alderman each scored for Bishop Shanahan.
