This is one of a series of previews for the 2013 Philly lacrosse season

Friends’ Central School

Coach: Lauren Becker Rubin, 10th season

Last Year’s Record: 17-5, 8-1 in the Friends’ Schools League, FSL Champions( 3rd straight year).

Key Returnees:
Seniors: Captain Ashley Tedesco, attack/midfield, Second Team All Main Line, 1st Team All League, 71 goals/75 assists in 2012,committed to Lafayette- Aubrey Faggen, goalie, 2nd Team All Main Line,1st Team All League, Maria Pizzini, defense/midfield,1st Team All-League, lead the team in forced turnovers.

Juniors: Captain Emma Dahle, midfield, First Team All Main Line, 1st Team All League,107 goals/45 assists in 2012, committed to Brown University- Kate Forrest, attack/midfield, Honorable Mention All Main Line,- Julie Levitan, defense

Sophomores: Sophie Macfarlane, Midfield, 1st Team All League- Abby Crowley, Midfield, Honorable Mention All League, Emily Tedesco, attack/midfield, 4th in scoring in 2012, Lisa Bernstein, defense

Newcomers:
Freshman, Jesse Rubin, Midfield
Freshman Miranda Mastrocola, attack/midfield
Junior Bianca Newton, attack

“We return a core group of starters from last year’s championship team who are ready to take on heightened roles and responsibilities. We have several strong scorers, speed in the midfield, depth in the defense, experience in goal and very good leadership. We have a strong freshman class who will make an immediate impact. This is a hard working and committed group looking to improve throughout the season and build on last year’s success.”

Moorestown Friends School

Coach: Paige Dougherty, 2nd year

Last Year’s Record: 6-10, 4th place in the friends league.

Key Returnees: Noelle Smith, last years MVP, lead team in every stat offensive and defensive. Was a captain as a sophomore and again this year. Earned first team FSL. Lauren Lowe, captain, leader of our defense. Was 1st team for friends league last year.

Key Newcomers: Sophomore Bria McKenzie, speedy midfielder and Erin Chen, defensive middie. A starter on defense last year, Kaitlyn Koste, has been moved to attack. Turned into a goal scoring machine. First scrimmage earned 7 goals.

“After graduating 4 starting attackers, we had some big shoes to fill. Captain Kaitlin Koste stepped up and will lead our attack on offense. Noelle Smith and Katrina Savon dominate our midfield with speed. We are looking to move up in the Friends League and cause some upsets this season.”
