Duke junior attackman Jordan Wolf (Lower Merion)n and North Carolina sophomore attackman Joey Sankey (Penn Charter) have been named Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Co-Offensive Players of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the conference office.
Wolf led all Blue Devil scorers with two goals and two assists in a 9-8 upset victory over No. 4 and reigning NCAA champion Loyola. The native of Wynnewood, Pa., netted what proved to be the game-winner with 3:45 to play in the fourth quarter, while his assists tied the game at 4-4 and 5-5 after Duke had fallen behind by a goal both times.
Wolf leads all Duke scorers with 27 points from 17 goals and 10 assists. His 27 points are the most in the ACC and fourth in points per game, while his 2.43 goals are second in the league.
Sankey had a career-high four assists and matched his career high with six points in Carolina’s 16-15 upset win over No. 5 Princeton. His previous career high for assists was three, and his six points matched a career high he achieved three times in his freshman year.
He also led all-non Tar Heel faceoff men with five ground balls. The native of Warminster, Pa., has tallied multiple goals in four of five games played this season.
