From Press Release
Freshman midfielder Carlianne McCabe (Academy of Notre Dame) of the Lafayette women’s lacrosse team earned the Patriot League Rookie of the Week award, the League announced today.
McCabe tallied a game-high six goals in Lafayette’s 16-15 win over Monmouth on Tuesday and netted another score in a loss to Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon. The Newtown Square native picked up one ground ball and went 2-for-2 in her free-position chances versus Monmouth.
In addition to McCabe’s honors, senior attack Jessica Rothstein (Harriton) and junior midfielder Ana White (Strath Haven) also earned honorable mentions for their performances this past week.
Rothstein netted five goals and a draw control in the win over Monmouth and scored twice with one ground ball against Holy Cross. White tallied three goals, three ground balls and five draw controls in the Monmouth contest and posted another three scores to go along with two ground balls and nine draw controls versus Holy Cross.
“In a week where we weren’t playing our best as a team, it is very encouraging to have three players recognized by the League for their performances,” Lafayette coach Alison Fisher said.
“Carlianne and Jess came up huge against Monmouth posting six and five goals, respectively, in a one-goal win and Ana has been consistently turning in good performances game in and game out. Having a variety of people who are able to make a positive impact is definitely one of the strengths of this team and will be something that we can depend on as we work to get back on track against Wagner on Wednesday night.”
Lafayette’s Bock (Spring-Ford) earns League honors
Sophomore attackman Brian Bock (Spring-Ford) scored nine goals and tallied three assists in two games for the Lafayette men’s lacrosse team to earn the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week award, the League announced today.
The Collegeville native tallied five goals in an 11-9 loss to Delaware on Tuesday and notched four goals, three assists and two ground balls in a 12-11 defeat at Navy on Saturday afternoon.
“Brian has worked extremely hard to improve his game over the last few weeks,” head coach Jim Rogalski said. “His commitment and determination have paid off with two great games in a row and his leadership will continue to bring our offense together.”
Bock currently sits fourth in the Patriot League in points per game with 3.86 per contest (27 on the year). Additionally, Bock finished the week at the top of the League rankings in man-up goals with six in seven games played.
