Caitlyn Brostrand (Camden Catholic) tied a career high with five goals and Lauren McDermott (North Penn) added four goals and an assist while goalie Maura Malone made 14 saves as the La Salle lacrosse team held on for a 13-12 win over Delaware at McCarthy Stadium on Friday night.
Katelyn Fay (Henderson) added two goals and an assist as well as two draw controls and two groundballs for La Salle.
Reigning CAA Player of the Week Caitlin McCartney (Archbishop Wood) led the Blue Hens with three goals and an assist. Kara Dattellas had two goals as well as three draw controls, three caused turnovers and two groundballs. Abbie Hartman (North Penn) added two goals.
The Explorers improve to 4-1 on the season, while the Blue Hens drop to an even 2-2.
“Tonight was a great win against a tough opponent,” Head Coach Candace Taglianetti Bossell (Haverford High) said. “We lost our two senior defenders this week to injuries and our rookies really stepped up. We pride ourselves on being a hard-working and gritty team and I think we were able to secure this win as a result of that. Mo Malone ignited the fire tonight and Caitlyn Brostrand and Lauren McDermott kept the flame going.”
Georgetown 11, Princeton 6
Kelyn Freedman (Radnor) scored two goals to help the Hoyas topple the Tigers.
Sam Ellis (Radnor) scored once for Princeton and goalie Annie Woehling (Radnor) had seven saves.
Malone was spectacular in goal on Friday night, recording 14 saves including several point blank shots.
