Longstreth girls’ recruit: West Chester East junior defender Weaver commits to West Chester University

West Chester East junior defender Ellen Weaver has made a commitment to play Division II lacrosse at West Chester University.

What will you major in/study? Business, Marketing

Why did you choose West Chester? “I chose West Chester because it is the perfect college for me. It’s a school where I can get an great education and be a part of an excellent lacrosse program. Coaches Ginnie Martino and Suzie Bermester as well as the team made me feel very comfortable and that I fit in, right away. I am excited to be playing close to home and on a competitive and successful team under such great coaches.”

Outlook for your High School team? “I look forward to the upcoming season with new Head Coach Marie Pepper. We have a solid group of seniors that will help make us a threat to our competition in the Ches Mont Division this year.”

Additional Comments: “I would like to give a huge thank you to my PA Express coaches for making me the player I am today. Coach Kevin Ryan, for pushing me to be the best I could possibly be, and for always having faith in me as a player. Coach Maryanne Parsons, who teaches us to always remember to respect the game, and Coach Jenn O’Donnell, for her incredible amount of knowledge and passion.

“I’d like to thank my former high school coach, Christa Somits for believing in me as a freshman. I would also like to thank my track coach, Scott Stephen who has made me not only better athlete all around, but who always motivated me to strive for success.

“A special thanks to Maureen Staska, my very first lacrosse coach, who was such a huge inspiration and motivator for me.

“I would like to thank all my high school and PA Express teammates for being the greatest friends and teammates I could ever imagine.

“Last but not least, I would like to thank my amazing Mother for always being my biggest fan yet biggest critic, and all she’s done for me throughout the years.”
