Shipley senior midfield Katie Leyden has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Wesleyan University.

Katie Leyden log:

Katie Leyden

High School: Shipley School

Graduation Year: 2012

Position: Midfield

College Choice: Wesleyan University

Club Affiliation: Phantastix Lacrosse Club

Major lacrosse honors: Varsity since freshman year, 2011 All-Friends League Honorable Mention.

What will you major in/study? “I have not yet decided on a major, but I am very interested in the sciences.”

Why did you choose Wesleyan? “I chose Wesleyan because when I first visited the campus, I knew that it was the right school for me. I was very impressed with the beautiful campus, the friendly atmosphere, and the sense of community. I loved that I would be getting an outstanding education while being able to play lacrosse in a very competitive league. Getting to know the coaches, Holly Wheeler and Heather Dobson, and members of the lacrosse team helped to solidify my decision.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for the season? “We will be very competitive for the FSL (Friends Schools League) title. We have always been one of the top teams in the league, and, this year, we have a lot of talented seniors and underclassmen.”

Additional comments:
“I want to thank everyone who has helped me, especially my Phantastix and Shipley coaches. I also want to thank my parents and brothers for being supportive of me.”
