Under Armour Underclassmen roundup: Philly girls bounce back to down West, 14-13 in OT

Haley Warden (Garnet Valley) scored the game-winner in overtime and Molly Hendrick (Manheim Township) had three goals and two assists as Philly defeated the West, 14-13, on Saturday to conclude its play in the in the Under Armour Underclassmen Games at Towson University.

Philly finished 2-2 overall in pool play and did not qualify for the playoffs.

Alex Lista (Mount St. Joseph) had 10 saves and two interceptions during the second half and in overtime, when she had a huge stop to preserve the win. Natalie Schmitt (Archbishop Carroll) had two goals, two assists, three groundballs and a forced turnover while Megan McGillis (Conestoga) and Kristen Hansen (Strath Haven) each had two goals.

Also for Team Philly, Julianne D’Orazio (Merion Mercy) had a goal and an assist on the game-winner while Zoey Gomez (Mount St. Joseph) had a goal and two assists and two groundballs.

Liz Jacobs (Princfeton High) and Haley Wetzel (Boyertown) each scored once and Cate Carey (Peters Township) added an assist while Blake Hamblet (Conestoga) and Hillary Lemonick (Harriton) were strong defensively.

Earlier Saturday, Warden had two goals and Melina Avery (Harriton) was a standout in goal, but Philly saw powerful Long Island pull away with a big second half in a 17-4 loss.

Schmitt and Carey each added a goal for Team Philly, which trailed only 6-3 at halftime. Lemonick and Blake Hamblet played well defensively.
