Sunday’s college wrap: Wolf, Wigrizer help Duke roll; Hopkins, Notre Dame win in 3 OT

Three Blue Devils – including Jordan Wolf (Lower Merion), Josh Dionne, Robert Rotanz and – scored four goals each to lead 15th-ranked Duke past visiting Dartmouth, 20-9, Sunday afternoon at Koskinen Stadium.

Duke improves to 6-3 on the year while the Big Green falls to 2-2. The Blue Devils have now won all 15 meetings with Dartmouth.

Wolf chipped in three assists for a game-best seven points while Turri logged two goals and a career-high four assists for a career-best six points. Walsh finished the day with two goals and two assists.

Duke won the faceoff battle by claiming 20-of-33 draws. Brendan Fowler, who scored one goal and added an assist, led the way for the Blue Devils, securing 10-of-16 draws.
In the Duke goal, Dan Wigrizer (Haverford School) earned the start and was credited with eight saves against just three goals against in 30 minutes of work. Reserves Mike Rock (15 minutes; 4 saves; 3 goals against), Kyle Turri (9:09 minutes; 0 saves; 3 goals against) and Chris Shannon (5:51 minutes; 3 saves; 0 goals against) closed out the victory.

Also for Duke, starting defenseman Henry Lobb (Malvern Prep) had a groundball and reserve long pole Brian Dailey (Conestoga) added a groundball.

For Dartmouth, Patrick Resch (La Sale) scored once.

Notre Dame 10, Denver 9, 3 OT

Westy Hopkins (La Salle) had a goal and two assists as the No. 7 Irish won a thrilling victory over the No. 9 Pioneers.

North Carolina 14, ODU 3

Emily Garrity (Strath Haven) scored once while defenders Beth Ellis (Radnor) and Kelly Devlin (Downingtown East) each picked up groundballs to help UNC coast.

Sarah Geary (Radnor) had 10 saves for ODU while Lisa Bernardini (George School) and Rebecca Hartrum (Springfield-Delco) each scored once.

Ohio State 14, Canisius 11

Gabby Capuzzi (Archbishop Carroll) had five goals to help the Buckeyes earn the win.
