The Philadelphia Lacrosse Association has released its uniform for Saturday’s exhibition game between the United States Under 19 Men’s National Team and the Eastern Pennsylvania All Stars.
The uniforms for the Eastern PA All Stars were designed by Lacrosse International and represent the colors of the Philadelphia Wings, the team sponsor for Saturday night’s exhibition game.
The game is at 7:00 p.m. at Radnor High School. Click here for story on the rosters.
The Philadelphia Lacrosse Association will be accepting donations of new or used lacrosse sticks at the entrance of Radnor stadium on Saturday night as part of the exhibition game.
HEADstrong has donated 200 pieces of its distinctive lime green mesh as part of what the PLA and HEADstrong are calling the “HEADstring” initiative. The sticks will be re-strung with the lime green mesh and be donated to the lacrosse programs in the Philadelphia School District as part of the PLA’s City Initiative, which works to grow the sport of boys and girls lacrosse within the school district of Philadelphia.
The goal of the “HEADstring” initiative is not only to further the PLA’s mission in the City but to help communicate the message of character, determination and perseverance, all reminiscent of HEADstrong’s founder, Nick Collelouri. The PLA will accept boys’ and girls’ sticks, including goalie sticks. There will be a donation box at the entrance of the stadium at Radnor on Saturday night.
The PLA has asked several Philly area club travel teams to identify payers who can help restring the sticks as a community service project. HEADstrong, Mesa Fresh, Man Up and Wet Bandits have expressed interest in supporting the effort, but all clubs and high school age stick stringers are welcome to participate. Volunteers will receive a certificate of service in connection with the “HEADstring” initiative, which the PLA and HEADstrong will issue jointly.
The PLA is hoping to see a large crowd at Radnor come out to watch some of the area’s top players take on the USA U19 National Team. The event promises to showcase great lacrosse and the hope it that parents and players will check their closets, basements and garages for surplus sticks, heads and shafts, all of which will be refurbished and given new life furthering other important and promising causes!
The exhibition game on Saturday is a fund raiser for the Under 19 national team, as they prepare for the World Championships in Turku, Finland beginning on July 12. Tickets are $8 and be purchased in advance by clicking here.
