PA girls’ high school, middle school teams advance to Brine National Lacrosse championship games

BOYDS, Md. Great Valley rising junior Brittany Edwards scored five goals and then made a key groundball and pass to set up the game-winner by Megan Parsons (Villa Maria Academy rising junipr) in overtime to lift Pennsylvania to a thrilling 11-10 overtime win this morning over Long Island in the semifinals of the high school girls’ division of the Brine National Lacrosse Classic here at the Germantown Soccerplex.

Pennsylvania, comprised mostly of Philly girls, will play at 9:30 against Maryland in the title game.

Parsons had two goals in the win while jessica harsch (Owen J. Roberts rising senior) added a pair. The PA defense held Long Island for a three-minute possession to close regulation. Great Valley rising senior Merrilee Viguers was a standout in goal.

In the middle school division, Pennsylvania toppled Maryland, 9-5, to advance to the finals to meet top-seeded Long Island North
