Brendan Mundorf scored three fourth-period goals, including the tying and winning scores as the host Philadelphia Wings defeated the Edmonton Rush, 16-15, in a back-and-forth game to improve their season record to 6-4 at Wells Fargo Center Saturday night.
The Wings remain atop the East Division with a one game lead on the Rochester Knighthawks.
Mundorf tied it with 2:52 to play and then put Philadelphia ahead to stay 29 seconds later. Mundorf also had four assists.
The Wings and Rush exchanged leads through much of the first three quarters and it appeared that the Wings were firmly in control as they opened the second half on a 6-0 run and took a 13-9 lead. The Rush battled back though, with four straight goals of their own to tie it at 13 at the end of the third.
Leading the way for the Wings were forwards Mike Hominuck with three goals and nine assists and Dan Dawson with two goals and 10 assists. With his seventh assist on the night, Dawson surpassed 500 for his career. Kevin Crowley had four goals and three assists and goalie Brendan Miller posted a whopping 34 saves.
The Wings will play a home and home series with the West-leading Mammoth next weekend as they travel to Colorado next Friday before returning to Wells Fargo Center to host the Mammoth Sunday, March 25 at 4 p.m.
