Monday’s HS boys’ highlights: Boyertown, PV, PJP II, L. Merion, S. Haven, St. Augustine Prep, Egg Harbor Twp. earn wins

Boyertown withstood a late charge from Methacton to post a 12-10 Pioneer Athletic Conference boys’ lacrosse victory Monday afternoon.

Chris Lees poured in four goals, Steve Monka added a hat trick and Tyler Fuhrman chipped in with two goals and three assists to help the Bears maintain a share of the league lead with Spring-Ford at 3-0.

Boyertown led 12-5 before the Warriors rallied for 5 goals in the closing 5 minutes to make it interesting. Brian Vawter paced Methacton (1-2 league, 1-3 overall) with four goals and two assists while Keith White picked up a hat trick. Luke Herber came through with 3 assists for the Warriors, who also got goals from Kevin Markle, Dominic Germano and Matt McClay.

Jon Fogarty had nine saves in net for the Warriors, offsetting the eight saves recorded by Boyertown keeper Austin Mather.

Perkiomen Valley 12, Pottsgrove 9

The Vikings used a fast start and five goals from Sean Tornetta to secure the win against the feisty Falcons, who were unable to overcome a 6-0 deficit after the first quarter.

Perk Valley (2-1 league, 2-2 overall) also got a pair of goals from Jamie Klementisz and single strikes from Ryan Boyd, Shawn Dickey, Brady Himsworth, Zane Himsworth and J.R. Worsky.

Danny Michaels had four goals and Troy Hudgins chipped in with two for the Falcons (0-3 league), who also got tallies from Matt Natale, Elliott Koss and Matt Cimino.

PV keeper Bryce Womack collected 19 saves while Pottsgrove got 10 saves in net from Bryan Bilardo.

Pope John Paul II 11, Phoenixville 4

The Golden Panthers broke into the win column behind hat tricks from Matt Bildstein and Jake Bevenour and the 18-save goalkeeping of Josh Bildstein.

Adding goals for PJP (1-2 league, 1-3) were Chris Veisburgs, Tyler Eads, Phil Goreski, John Bildstein and Eric Seinwen.

Lower Merion 10, Churchill (Md.) 7

Tyler Kopen scored three goals and Chris Daly had two goals and two assists while Eli Newschaffer made 13 saves as the Aces earned their first win of the year.

Strath Haven 9, Interboro 5

Mitch Cross had two goals and two assists and Tucker Carney scored twice for the Panthers in the non-league win.

Jake Herrmann had two goals and an assist for Interboro.

St. Augustine Prep 15, Montgomery 12

Mike Sutton fired in seven goals and Tommy O’Neill added four goals and three assists as the Hermits evened their record at 1-1.

Egg Harbor Twp. 10, Ocean City 1

Phil Egnor had four goals and an assist and Nick Johnson scored twice for Egg Harbor.

Gonzaga 12, St. Joseph’s Prep 5

The Hawks fell to 1-2 in the defeat to the nationally-ranked Purple Eagles.
