Spring-Ford rising senior attackman-midfielder Christian McCormick has committed to play Division III lacrosse at York College.
Christian McCormick log:
High school: Spring-Ford
Graduation year: 2013
Position: Attack / Midfield
College choice: York College
Club affiliation: HEADstrong
Major lacrosse honors: 2012 Brine All-American Attack, All League Honorable Mention-Midfielder, PAC-10 Champions, Big Four Invitational All-Star-Attack/Midfielder, 2012 NSCLA All-stars
What will you major in/study: Business Administration
Why did you choose school: “After meeting with Coach Brandon Childs (former Eastern coach) and touring the school I left knowing this is the right fit for me. Between the academics, the small class ratio, their investment in the expansion of the school infrastructure, to their commitment to having the best athletic programs and support, York appeared to be the choice for me. With all that in mind, the deciding factor was coach Child’s enthuses on education, character, and development of his players as successful people in life, being the first priority as a student athlete. Right behind that were his plans to win a national championship and I want to be a part of that.”
Outlook for your high school team: “We look to repeat as the PAC-10 Champion and go further in post season than ever before. Our team is young and a lot of the starting players from last year will be back. In addition, we are led again by last season’s coach of the year, Kevin Donnelly.”
Other comments: “I have been fortunate to have played lacrosse in the highest competitive area with the most opportunities to play and learn in the country.
“I would like to thank my youth program, the Collegeville Cougars, where I got my start; director Alan Monzo, and that great coach the program had, my DAD. Thanks to the travel teams I’ve played for; Black Bear, 380, PYLA, Penn Premier. And most of all, thanks to HEADstrong LC with coach and director Brian Neary, who believed in my abilities when I didn’t; and not to mention the great cause they represent founded by Nick Colleluori.
“Special thanks to Spring-Ford High school Lacrosse Head Coach Kevin Donnelly for kicking my tail into shape, teaching me to put the team first and developing me into versatile player all while molding my character. Thanks goes out to Assistant coach (Kevin) Czapor for his motivation, leadership, and support, Coach (Bryan) Capone and (Dan) Monzo for their advice and encouragement. Last but not least, thanks to my parents for all their time, support, and time, and time, and time! I could not have done it without them.
“And thanks grand mom Peggy for coming to my games.”
