The 2012 Philly Boys Showcase Camp and Philly Girls Showcase Camp are unique opportunities for high school players interested in playing college lacrosse to work closely with top college coaches. Registration for these events is capped at around 150, and with 12-14 prominent coaches working each event, plus more coming to individual sessions, the coach-to-player ratio is extremely high.

Prominent college coaches have designed the entire Showcase Camp schedule and curriculum, which focuses on teaching and working closely with high school-age players. During game-play, players will be placed on teams with coaches specifically interested in working with them. During positional breakout sessions, players will work with coaches who specialize in position-by-position teaching.

Said Peter Lawrence, Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach at the University of Hartford and Co-Director of the Philly Boys Showcase Camp, “There are many college coaches out there, myself included, who really enjoy the opportunity to work with and teach younger players, not just sit on the sideline and evaluate. We have designed the curriculum of these camps to help players improve and give them a sense of what it is like to be a college lacrosse player.”

Added Karin Brower, Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach at the University of Pennsylvania and Co-Director of the Girls Showcase Camp, “While this is certainly a great opportunity for myself and the other coaches to evaluate the girls, I really enjoy the opportunity to spend some time working in small groups and focusing on teaching and skill development, which is not something that goes on at many summer events.”

Additionally, both the Boys and the Girls Showcase Camp will feature highly structured off-field activities designed to give players a sense of what lacrosse at the collegiate level is like. Along with the opportunity to live in college dorms, players will be exposed to college-style film sessions, dry-land training and strength and conditioning clinics, and a session on the recruiting process.

The Philly Boys Showcase Camp is taking place June 15-17, 2012, at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA and is open to players graduating high school in 2014, 2015 and 2016; the Philly Girls Showcase Camp is scheduled for July 17-19, 2012 at Haverford College in Haverford, PA and is open to players graduating high school in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Both camps feature overnight ($395) and commuter ($345) rates.

There is limited space still open for both Camps. Interested players may find more information and register at ShowcaseLacrosse.com.
