From Press Release
Following a four-point effort last Friday at Navy, Lehigh freshman attackman Patrick Corbett has earned his second honor of the week, garnering Cascade Rookie of the Week laurels as announced by Inside Lacrosse on Wednesday. Corbett is Lehigh’s second national rookie of the week of the season, along with goalie Matt Poillon who earned the honor last month.
Corbett posted his second-career hat trick Friday, while adding an assist to tie his career-high four points. The Burlington, Ontario native took over the game when it mattered most, with his goals proving as huge momentum swings. He pulled Lehigh within 4-3 late in the first half then tied the score at four on man-up early in the second. Both came on nifty rebounds, scooping groundballs before finding the back of the net.
Corbett helped close out the game in the fourth quarter, scoring at 10:02 then assisting on senior Adam John’s goal at 5:52. Corbett also tied a career-high four groundballs and now has 15 on the season. He stands third on the team with 19 points behind 14 goals and five assists. Corbett owns a stellar 56% shooting percentage (14-of-25), by far the best on the team.
Also on Wednesday, Inside Lacrosse published its Midseason All-Americans, which included sophomore defenseman Ty Souders on the Second Team. Lehigh was featured in Game Day Gear as well. Juniors Dante Fantoni and Ryan Snyder will also take part in Inside Lacrosse’s live chat on Thursday afternoon. Check back to Lehighsports.com for the link to submit questions and follow the chat.
