Lacrosse Magazine names Pitt’s Novotny (Spring-Ford) as MCLA Preseason Player of Year

Lacrosse Magazine has named Pitt senior attackman Tyler Novotny (Spring-Ford) as its MCLA Division I Preseason Player of the Year.

Novotny (Duke’s Lacrosse Club) last year helped Pittsburgh (12-3 overall) enjoy its best season ever as a member of the Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association while earning its first berth in the MCLA championships.

Novotny, a former selection who played one season at St. John’s, had 69 goals and 17 assists while being named CCLA Offensive Player of the Year and Second-Team MCLA All-American. He has been named a co-captain this year for Pitt, which is ranked No. 12 in the Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Rankings.
