La Salle jumped to a big lead and held on Saturday for an 11-10 victory over Downingtown East in the 12th annual Katie Samson Lacrosse Festival at Radnor High.
La Salle (10-3) benefited from a balanced attack, getting tallies from seven different scorers. Brian McNamara (three goals, one assist) and Matt Rambo (two goals, two assists) led the offense with four points apiece.
Senior defenseman Casey Eidenshink also contributed a goal while anchoring the defense.
Downingtown East (9-5) rallied back from an 8-1 first-half deficit and made it close with several goals in the final minutes, but the Explorers saved enough at the end to stave off the comeback.
“It shows what kind of team we are when it’s late in the fourth quarter, the other team’s making a run, and we need to make a stop,” said Eidenshink.
Aaron Murphy led the attack with six goals and Kevin Clarke won 15 of 22 face-offs.
