History was made Friday at Middletown Community Park in Langhorne as the 2012 Lower Bucks Lacrosse Orange Crush won the Philadelphia Area Girls Lacrosse Association East Championship, besting Chestnut Hill 11-10.
It was a great battle – a true see-saw game that saw LBL break open with a 3-0 lead, go into halftime ahead 6-5, and then down 10-9 with 3 minutes left. Stellar saves in goal by Annie Carroll, a key caused turnover by Isabel Glace, and a strong free position goal by Emily Walther sealed the win with 1:45 remaining. The game showcased the very finest in middle school girls’ lacrosse in the area.
Until this season, no Lower Bucks League girls’ team had ever gone past the 2nd round of the PAGLA East playoffs since the inception of the Lower Bucks Girls Lacrosse program back in 1998. The road to this championship win was a long time in the making, representing years of hard work not only on the part of the players, but from countless dedicated coaches starting with the 1st grade program, all the way through 7th/8th A.
Special thanks to Head Coach Erin Jones, assistant coaches Jen Walther, Terry Dzelzgalvis and Fred Mumford, and to all the Crush parents who banded together to support the team.
