Shannon Quinn scored off a pass from Libby Lowry on a free position with 1:03 to play, lifting Radnor to a 10-9 victory today over Rumson-Fair Haven (N.J.) and an impressive sweep of two national powers at the St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes Spring Fling in Alexandria, Va.

The Red Raiders (5-2) also defeated Baltimore power Notre Dame Prep, 13-8.

In the win over Rum-Fair Haven, Quinn had three goals and sara Curley scored twice.

Against ND Prep, Taryn Deck had four goals and an assist and Natalie Miller added three goals and two assists as Radnor raced to a 9-2 halftime lead. Grace Collins made seven saves in the second half when Notre Dame Prep (7-4) made a comeback attempt.

The sweep comes after the Raiders dropped games last week to the top two teams in the state, Great Valley (21-17) and Garnet Valley (11-8).

“I was thrilled to see the fast start against NDP,” said Radnor coach Brook Fritz. “We played with both speed and composure and didn’t have any turnovers in the first half. Kyle Hays led the defense with eight grandballs.

“NDP picked up their play in the second half and Grace really stepped up in goal and held our lead as both teams battled back and forth. The Rumson game was a little sloppier because both teams were tired as it was our second game of the day.

“Rumson went ahead 9-8 with 6:53 to play and we were struggling to win the draws in this game but our defense stepped up and caused some key turnovers allowing us to tie it at 3:43 and take the lead at 1:03. The winning goal was scored by Shannon Quinn off a pass from a free position by Libby Lowry.”
