Former Radnor JV coach Jenny Purvis has been named head girls’ lacrosse coach at Garnet Valley after being appointed at Tuesday’s school board meeting.

Purvis played field hockey at Penn State after starring at field hockey and lacrosse at Hatboro-Horsham. She served as the Radnor JV B coach last year.

She replaces the successful Kate Henwood, who guided the Jaguars to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association championships in 2011 and 2012. In her three seasons as coach of her alma mater, Henwood – now the head coach at UC-Davis – posted a record of 59-14.

In lacrosse, Purvis had a season high of 87 goals at Hatboro-Horsham and in 2006 she earned Honorable Mention All-America while being selected for a 2006 U.S. National U19 Team tryout.

In field hockey at Penn State, Purvis earned Academic All-Big Ten three times and (2008, 2009, 2010) and was named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad all four years (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010) while also earning Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors in 2009.
