A total of 190 boys’ teams from U11 to high school competed last weekend at three Bucks County sites in the Fifth Annual Patriot Games Youth Lacrosse Summer Showcase.

Bucks Select 2019 was the U11AA champion at the Patriot Games Youth Showcase last weekend

Teams came from 14 states and Ontario to compete in a tourney held at Herbst Field Complex (Plumstead), Palisades High School (Kintnersville) and New Hope-Solebury High School (New Hope).

The tourney is unique in that it stresses positive conduct by players and followers. Each player signed a code of conduct form and teams are graded on sportsmanship after every game by the referee. Signs also were posted through the tourney sites that state, “Honor the Game and Honor Your Kids.”

The tournament is run by Princeton University coach Chris Bates, former Swarthmore All-American Pat Carney and fellow former Philadelphia Wing and Philadelphia Lacrosse Association board member and webmaster Scott Growney.

Although the event is known as a youth showcase, it has added a high school division through the interest of the returning team coaches. This year over 20 college coaches attended.

The Patriot Games is an Official Qualifying Tournament for the Dick’s Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions. Based on their success in this event, many teams (see below) earned invitations to compete against top teams from around the country in the Dick’s Sporting Good-sponsored national championship in Wesley Chapel, Fla., in January 2013.

More information can be found by visiting the Dick’s TOC website – Most of those being award are automatic qualifiers, but the Tournament is given a few “Director’s Bids” to distribute to at-large teams in the discretion of the Tournament Directors.
