Delaware boys’ state semifinals: Salesianum, Caesar Rodney advance to title game Saturday

Sean Giampetro fired in five goals and Dillon Walker had four while Craig Zebrowski added a pair as third-seeded Salesianum School routed second-seeded Tower Hill, 15-3, Wednesday in the semifinals of the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association Boys State High School Lacrosse Tournament at Caravel Academy in Bear.

Salesianum (15-3) got 10 saves from Matt Barone. John Schreppler, Andrew Pettit and Wil Mette each scored once for the Hillers (15-4) and Stephen Kullman recorded eight saves.

In the first game of the semifinal doubleheader, the top-seeded Riders of Caesar Rodney (17-1) advanced to their first state championship game since 2005 as Hunter Schaefer and Ryne Johnson each had four goals and Dave Schmidt tallied three in a 14-9 victory over fourth-seeded Archmere Academy (15-3).

John Michael Smith had 14 saves for the Riders while Davis Russell had 18 for Archmere.

Defending champion Salesianum will be making its sixth straight appearance in the state final when it faces Caesar Rodney on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Dover High. For tickets go to
