Shane Shapiro scored off a feed from Tom Hemcher in the second overtime to lift host Radnor to a stunning 8-7 victory over Garnet Valley tonight in Central league boys’ lacrosse.

The Red Raiders improved to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the league and dropped the Jaguars –ranked No. 3 in the PA Media Rankings in the PIAA – to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the league.

The game-winner was set up when Kevin Hartnett picked up a ground ball in the defensive zone, dodged two players and found Hemcher, who dished to Shapiro (two goals).

Ben Junior led the Raiders with three goals and an assist and Hemcher scored twice while Peter Donato had a goal and two assists. Radnor’s Mike Barnes was again a standout at the face-off X, winning 17 of 19 draws. Dan Michaelson led the defense, which held GV without a goal for 17 minutes in the second half. Brendan Manderack made 13 saves.
