Zach Kruzel scored the game-winner with 2:14 left in the third overtime as host Penncrest claimed a thrilling 11-10 non-league boys’ lacrosse win tonight over Pennsbury.
Kruzel scored off a scramble, beating Drew Sweetland, who was terrific with 20 saves.
Pennscrest goalie Mike McKernan also was a standout with 15 saves.
“Both goalies played unbelievable,” said Penncrest coach Wayne Matsinger. “Drew was nuts; they were both standing on their heads. It’s sad somebody had to lose; the effort was absolutely unbelievable.
“Zach switched hands and the ball went down and somebody kicked it right into his stick and he was able to get the shot off.”
Bill McDonnell led the Lions (4-2) with three goals and an assist and Kruzel had two goals and an assist while Matt Klodarska collected two goals and four assists.
Calvin Hopkins led Pennsbury (3-1) with four goals while Sean McDonald and Luke Matthews each added a pair.
