Parke Schweiter says his brother Logan was aware that Friday night’s Philly Charity Showcase at PPL Park was played in honor of his fight.

“I think he understands certain things and he knows he has people behind his back,” said Parke, a sophomore defenseman who played Friday for Irish Road Lacrosse Club.

Logan and his family were the benefactors of the Charity Showdown, which featured five feature boys’ lacrosse games between elite club and high school prep schools. It kicked off the Philly Showcase weekend and drew 100 coaches to the first scholastic lacrosse event ever played at the Union home field.

Logan, 13, of Wayne, suffered a severe brain injury after nearly drowning in the Ithan Creek 15 months ago. The accident caused him to lose his ability to walk and speak. He communicates through blinking and head nods.

Friday’s event raised money for his family’s increasing medical bills and attempts to attempt a stem cell procedure.

Logan loves lacrosse. So does Parke, who helped I.R.L.C. tie Episcopal Academy, 6-6.

“I knmow how much (Logan) loves the sport and it means a heck of a lot to me,” sxaid Schweiter, a sophomore defenseman for Conestoga High. “I do my best to play for me, and to play for him and my family.”

Parke said having a charity event in a venue such as PPL Park was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“I’m so excited and so happy to play for the team,” he said. “And seeing everyone coming out here, rallying for us is great. The atmosphere is great and it’s an amazing facility.

“I am very humbled that people are behind us and getting our backs. It’s just been awesome.”
