Matt Smith log:

Matt Smith
High School: Parkland High School
Graduation Year: 2014
Position: Defense
College Choice: United States Naval Academy
Club Affiliation: Old School Lacrosse Club
Major lacrosse honors: Top 205 All-Star Game, Battle of the Hotbeds All-Star Game
What will you major in/study? Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering
Why did you choose Navy? “Navy has always been my dream school for as long as I can remember. Every time I have visited I found new things about the Academy that I love and that really suite me as a person. The lacrosse program is among the best in the country and I can’t wait to be a part of it. Just talking with Coach (Rick) Sowell and Coach (Ryan) Wellner and seeing how they run the program along with Coach (J.L.) Reppert, was a big deciding factor as well.”
Outlook for your high school team next season? “We are generally a pretty young team for this upcoming year. There have been multiple changes as a whole to the program this past year, but the future looks bright for this next season.”
Additional Comments: “I would like to thank my parents for their support throughout my lacrosse career. I also want to thank Coaches Geoff Chenworth, and Lou Gonzalez for their coaching and advice. Also I want to thank Coach Nostrant, Coach MacFarlane, and especially Coach Metzower for their help with the recruiting process and for mentoring me as a player.”
