From Press Release
Former Eastern standout and assistant coach Dan Sharbaugh has been named as assistant men’s lacrosse coach at Gettysburg College, head coach Hank Janczyk has announced.
A 2009 graduate of Eastern, Sharbaugh comes to Gettysburg from York (Pa.) College, where he spent the 2012 campaign as the defensive coordinator and man-down defense coach. He helped lead the Spartans to a 9-7 record and a 5-5 record in the Capital Athletic Conference. York finished the season with a 9.38 goals-against average – the lowest in school history – along with a 72.9 penalty-kill percentage and a pair of all-conference selections.
Sharbaugh also coached at Eastern in 2010 and 2011, helping the Eagles to a 21-11 record and an 18-6 mark in the Middle Atlantic Conference. In 2011, he helped Eastern finish 10-6 with the fourth-best goals-against average (5.9) in Division III. He served as the assistant defensive coordinator, the man-down defense coach, and face-off coach as Eastern finished the season with an 83.3 penalty-kill percentage and won 55 percent of its face-offs.
As a student-athlete, Sharbaugh was a four-year starting defenseman and a two-time team captain. He helped Eastern finish as the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference runner-up in 2008.
Sharbaugh has also coached at numerous camps, including Gettysburg’s FCA Camp (2009-2012) and Gait Cup (2009, 2012).
Sharbaugh will also serve as an assistant in the athletic communications office. With the addition of Sharbaugh, Gettysburg’s coaching staff is now complete. In August, Chris Perzinski was hired as the top assistant and defensive coordinator.
