Moorestown rising junior attackman Michael Handlan has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Delaware.

Michael Handlan log:

Michael Handlan (shooting)

High School:
Moorestown, N.J.

Graduation Year:
2014

Position: Attackman

College Choice:
University of Delaware

Club Affiliation: Tri-State

Major lacrosse honors: Tallied 44 goals and 31 assists in 2012, has 63 career goals; played for team New Jersey at the Under Armour Underclass Games; 2011 UNC All Star, 2012 King of Hill All star, 2012 Nike Blue Chip, Second Team All State, Second Team All Skyland Conference, Second Team Sophomore, All Burlington County.

What will you major in/study? Undecided

Why did you choose the school? “I chose this school because I really connected well with the coaches. My style of play will fit in well in coach (Bob) Shillinglaw’s system. The campus gave me a very comfortable feeling. Plus, I really wanted to go to school with my twin brother (Brendan), and Delaware gave us that chance.”

Outlook for 2013 HS season:
“This upcoming season, we will be returning the majority key players. Our goal is to win the Group Three title, but ultimately this is a year we have a chance to go deep into the Tournament of Champions.”

Other schools considered: Denver, Hofstra, Fairfield, Drexel, Rutgers

Other comments: “I want to thank my Tri-State coach, MV Whitlow, for everything he has taught me and done to help me get to where I am today. I would also like to thank the Moorestown Lacrosse Club and my high school coach, Baron Wallenhurst. Finally I would like to thank my parents and family for supporting me and pushing to do better on and off the field.”

Maple Zone Sports and Fitness Complex, the official sponsor for Phillylacrosse.com Boys’ Recruits, congratulates Michael Handlan.
