Access Lacrosse, which provides Internet footage of lacrosse games throughout the Delaware Valley and beyond, is entering two girls’ teams from the West Deptford area in the annual Morey’s Piers Beach Lacrosse Tournament July 13-15 in Wildwood, N.J.

Access Lacrosse provided the funds for special multi-layer reversible pinnies. The multi-layer effect prevents the opposite side from showing through and gives a higher quality feel.

The teams (both at high school level) are made up of players that have played in West Deptford Youth Lacrosse.

Access Lacrosse (http://www.accesslacrosse.com/) owner John Barrett drew up the pinnies himself.

“After I received the coach’s input I got inspired by drawing and after a couple hours of Photoshop/Illustrator, I was ready to send it off,” he said.

Barrett is providing the jerseys himself. He said he is trying to get more girls’ lacrosse onto his website, which is already getting 10,000 hits a week during the season and more than 5,000 a week in the off-season. Access Lacrosse has a multitude of high school, college and box lacrosse footage.

“We have college, high school, box, all sorts of men’s lacrosse footage, but we see the need to get it out there to more of the ladies,” he said. “Our Ladies library does not have the depth of the boys/men’s game and in some regions the ladies game is more popular than the boys’/men’s game. This is a market we would like to be in.”

The Access teams are experienced at Wildwood. The captain of the one team, Heather Ward, was a member of the U13 NJ South All Star Team (2010) and a member of the NJ South U15 All Star Team (2011). She is currently a member of the South Jersey Devils 2016 Summer and Fall Tournament Team and coaches with the Scoopers program.

Briana Costello, captain of the second team, also coached with the Scoopers program. Both Ward and Costello have played in the beach lacrosse tournament since its first tourney in 2010.

“I first heard about the beach lacrosse tournament 3 years ago while attending the US Lacrosse Convention,” said Access U17 coach Janine Ward. “Of course, I was like, ‘We have to do this!’
“It was such a great experience. The girls loved playing barefoot on the beach, riding the rides on the boardwalk and chillin’ at the hotel or playing water polo in the pool with the coaches. I had beach uniforms printed up and now each year the players really look forward to seeing what I will come up with for the next season.”
