Tuesday’s girls’ wrap: Notre Dame, EA will play again for State Independent title; Strath Haven earns state berth

Round 3 of Notre Dame Academy and Episcopal Academy will be played on Thursday at a neutral site to be determined when the two Inter-Ac League rivals meet for the PA Independent Schools championship following semifinal wins today.

Second-seeded Notre Dame (20-2) toppled Germantown Friends, 17-10, while top-seeded EA downed Germantown Academy, 12-9.

Notre Dame and EA shared the Inter-Ac championship. It was the eighth straight crown for EA while the Irish won their first title ever. The teams split in the regular season.

Episcopal Academy 12, Germantown Academy 9

MC Curran and Lynda Michaels each had four goals for EA, which led only 7-6 at halftime. Lindsey Reder made 13 Saves

For GA, Brooke Kiley poured in six goals and finished her career at GA with 299 goals and 107 assists. She had 118 goals and 40 assists this season.

Notre Dame 17, Germantown Friends 10

Kristen Bandos collected six goals, two assists and four draw controls while Carlianne McCabe had three goals and five draw controls and Delaney Tuite had three goals and an assist.

Iris Williamson had three goals, two assists and five draw controls for GFS while Annie Morrissey scored four goals.

Strath Haven 17, Hatboro-Horsham 15

Sarah Labrum fired in six goals as the Panthers guaranteed themselves a state berth by outscoring the Hatters.

Kiersten Wilhelmsen had two goals and four assists and Morgan Glassford two goals and two assists for the Panthers, who play at Great Valley Thursday at 2 p.m. in the fifth-place game.

Lizzy Carr scored six goals and Rachel Rausa had four for Hatboro-Horsham, which must defeat host Springfield-Delco Thursday to make the state field.
