Thursday’s boys HS highlights: Haverford School, Malvern Prep, Lower Merion earn wins

Henry Blynn scored four goals Thursday to lead visiting Haverford School to an 11-9 victory over Germantown Academy in Inter-Ac League boys’ lacrosse.

Gavin McBride, Will McNamara and Reilly Hupfeldt each added two goals for the Fords (14-1, 6-0) while Will Gural won 15 of 23 face-offs and Zach Rego dished four assists. Jake Landman made 10 saves.

Reid Weber led GA (5-8, 1-5) with four goals and an assist and Connor Crump scored twice while Jake Adoni made 11 saves.

Malvern Prep 7, Penn Charter 3

On Senior Day goals by seniors Russ Atkinson, Jake Glancy, Joey Klinges, Graeme Weaver and an assist by Brad Elkin lead the Friars to an Inter Ac win over Penn Charter.

Malvern’s defense held Penn Charter to 17 shots opening up a 5-1 lead at halftime. Senior defenders Jack Sheridan, Eddie Morris, defensive midfielder Chris Roe and LSM Kevin Samolsky (five groundballs) spearheaded a stout defense while PJ Finley went 8 for 11 on faceoffs holding Penn Charter to one goal until 2:48 left in the game. Matt Barrett had 13 saves and Joey Carlini had a goal and four groundballs.

Shane Carr led PC with two goals.

Lower Merion 13, Marple Newtown 10

Evan Wolf and Chris Daly each scored four goals and Dan Buckman added three goals and five assists while Paddy Black won 17 of 25 face-offs to lift the Aces to the Central League win.

Archmere Academy 14, Wilmington Friends 2

Dan Ehrlichman scored five goals and Bryan Garrahan added three Thursday as the host Auks (9-0) coasted in a battle of Delaware powers.

Connor Beatson and Zack Revak each added a pair of goals for Archmere.

“There is no superstar on our squad; our guys help each other,” said Archmere coach Connor Beatson. “And the defense has always played the way we expect them to play.

For the Quakers, Samuel Carney and Sean Kirkpatrick each had a goal and Max Davis made 11 saves.
